LSU War Memorial Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

CacheCredit: I give up - at least for now. This cache location seems to be a bottomless pit that I keep throwing cache containers into. Maybe if I get really clever I can figure out a way to hide something here that will not get muggled - but not right now.

Geocache Description:

Scenic on campus memorial....

From the LSU web site:

The newest of LSU’s military memorials, the LSU War Memorial was dedicated on October 8, 1998 in memory of those who gave their lives in military conflict from World War II through Desert Storm. The LSU Alumni Association raised the money necessary to construct the memorial and then devoted it to the University. Former President George Bush was the guest speaker for the formal dedication ceremonies. The memorial serves as the site of numerous military ceremonies and recognition events each year. Visitors can always be seen viewing the names engraved on the granite walls, perhaps pondering the challenging circumstances surrounding those who lost their lives in these various conflicts. Visiting the memorial is an emotional experience at any time, but it is especially moving during the hours of darkness when the flag, illuminated at night, flows gracefully in the soft breeze reminding all those who pause to remember that Freedom is not Free!

A few requests:

  • Please place the cache back where you found it. Hints (wether in the description of friend lifelines) only work if the cache is in its original location.
  • Every effort has been made for accurate coordinates, but as we all know sometimes factors beyond the our control can throw things off. If you find that the coordinates are off by an unreasonable amount (the margin of error/accuracy for your GPSr), please post your find coordinates in your log as a waypoint. If a trend emerges I will gladly update the coordinates.
  • Please do not post any spoilers in your log that will give away either the location or the fun of the cache. If you really want to post something in your log that might cross the line, please take advantage of the ability to encrypt that portion of your log.
  • If the log is full, or the cache needs attention please include that information in your log.
  • If you made a good faith search, and came up empty please post a DNF log, or contact me - it is possible that the cache is missing, and this is the only way that I can know.
  • Have fun
  • Please feel free to rate my cache using GCVote (an add-on for Firefox) - Details can be found via this link.
