I've done some work in this neighborhood over the years, and
have always wondered what the story is behind the ill fated equine
that gave its name to the nearby road.
I originally had another (better) location in mind for a regular,
but another cache was placed too close so it is now a micro a
little further away.
At times, this area can be full of muggles, at others, virtual
empty. Please use discretion during your hunt. If crowded, think
about coming back another time to maintain the hide. It is also
somewhat in view of nearby residences so I made it an easy find
allowing for a quick grab and go.
BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: 7/22/07
After consulting with the homeowner (my client) who owns a fair
piece of the land here, I now know the origin and meaning of the
name of this little road.
Turns out, the land was once owned by a rancher who would bury any
dead cattle and horses in the canyon. When the homeowner bought the
land, the road had no official name. Their children (this was 30-40
years ago) would often find bones scattered about while at play.
The eldest son thought the name "Dead Horse Canyon Rd." was
appropriate, the parents agreed and petitioned the city to name it
so.
And now ya know!
