Source of the Upper Ammonoosuc River
This is one in a series called "Upper Ammonoosuc Cache Series". The cache is located at Pond-of-safety, in Randolph. A very quiet, pristine pond, that looks like it may be good hornpout fishing (I saw a bunch near shore). I DO NOT recommend cars or low vehicles. Higher clearance vehicles (4WD even better) would be a good idea. I did make it in a small 2wd truck, but next time I'll take the Jeep. For the trip up take the Ingerson Rd. across the road from Six Gun City. At approx. a mile in stay right for Pond-of-Safety rd. Around 3/4 of the way the road gets a lot rougher (this is where the higher vehicle comes in handy). You will come to a "T" intersection, with a signpost also "T" shaped, go left here. A short distance further there is a road on the left with a small signpost that just says "path", go that way. Parking/trailhead is at N 44*24.479 W 071*20.436. Have Fun! You can also hike in from the bog dam rd. off the fish hatchery rd. in Berlin.(p.s. there is also another surprise near cache at waters edge, for those of you who might be "collecting" these.)
