The Skinny Tank Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

elrojo14: ELIEIO came up to archive this one today. It was a good thing as I searched for it with no luck. It had been muggled. ELIEIO took a while to make it up the hill and had to come around a different way. We checked out the skinny tank and I see it is empty now and opened up. No more drinking water out of it and probably causing me cancer in a few years. We snapped some photos and then headed out. This whole area hardly seems to get any motorcycle or kid traffic like it did 30 years ago. Heck, the whole back side of the mountain is locationed out. There used to be hills with weeds up here. Not anymore. It is all one big huge location. How times have changed.

Geocache Description:

Small Tupperware container with log. I forgot to leave a pencil. There are good solid roads to the cache (a Geo could make it easily) and there are bad ones (a Geo would get stuck). WATCH FOR SNAKES!

I grew up in Derby Acres and I am not sure how many days of my life I spent roaming these hills. We walked these hills, rode our bicycles through these hills, and rode motorcycles through these hills.

One of our favorite destinations or even points to pass by was the Skinny Tank. I remember in my teens coming up here as a storm was blowing in and it was quite amazing to look at Derby Acres below as the dark clouds and wind blew in. In fact my name is still on the side of the tank, scribbled in pencil at right about the spot I sat and watched the storm.

The cache is not at the tank. You might have to do some climbing or bush breaking to find it. I parked at the lower parking to place it instead of up on the hill where everyone would see the car.

If you are going to try to get to The Big Tank from the Skinny Tank, use a 4x4, walk like I used to, or go the long way in your car.

There is a Bison Tube for FTF. Enjoy!
