The Big Tank Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

elrojo14: Trespassing on oilfield property isn't what it used to be. I could tell after coming up and pulling this one, that the kids and people of Derby Acres hardly come up here anymore. When I was younger, I lived on this hill. And this was a good cache too. It is just time for it to rest in peace.

Geocache Description:

35mm film container. BYOP. There are good solid roads to the cache (a Geo could make it easily) and there are bad ones (a Geo would get stuck).

I grew up in Derby Acres and I am not sure how many days of my life I spent roaming these hills. We walked these hills, rode our bicycles through these hills, and rode motorcycles through these hills.

The Big Tank is not too far from my house on 4th Street. We used to come up to the Big Tank all of the time. We didn't go to the Big Tank itself, but would go past it on the way to the "caves" below it or on our way past it towards a big hill we called "Bobcat".

The Big Tank actually stores the water supply for Derby Acres and is owned by the West Kern Water District. Please respect their property and fence line.

If you are going to try to get to The Skinny Tank from the Big Tank, use a 4x4, walk like I used to, or go the long way in your car.
