IgnotusPeverell: Greetings,

I'm IgnotusPeverell, one of the volunteer reviewers for geocaches submitted to Geocaching.com.

It appears the geocache, and the geocache owner have moved on - so this cache is being archived.

From San Mateo take N Pan American FWY Southwest

Urban Log #35 3-03-00 at 2205 hours

We made a wrong turn; it was late, dark and pouring rain. Potholes everywhere, road clearly not maintained.

The water was so deep, Suddenly our GeoMobile died. Nearby we saw a sign:

DANGER! FLOOD AREA PARK AT OWN RISK

Our GeoMobile would not start up. Flood waters were on the rise pushing us towards a ravine. I told MonkeyBug, grab only the bare necessities and swim to that safe spot (perfect for a MonkeyBug).

I grabbed our emergency ammo box, Garmin, swag bag, writin’ stick and my experimental cache, probably not the best choices but all important, to a cacher.

We ejected the GeoMobile, swam to the safe spot and prepared for the night. We were cold, wet and hungry. I asked MonkeyBug what she grabbed; she showed me an ammo box, a flashlight and a candy bar. We opened our ammo boxes only to find them filled with swag and log books, we clearly grabbed the wrong boxes. So we split the candy bar and went to sleep.

When we woke the flood water had subsided. We climbed out of the safe spot, retrieved our GeoMobile from the ravine and drove home. It was then I realized I lost my experimental cache; it must be at the safe spot filled with lots of swag.

Fortunately, I marked four waypoints :

1- The sign 35’ 09.038-106’ 35.299
2- Where GeoMobile died 35’ 09.045-106’ 35.299
3- The source of flood waters 35’ 09.038-106’ 35.290
4- The safe spot 35’ 09.049-106’ ??.??? oops, forgot to log that one

If you park at 2, look at 1 then at 3 the flow of water would take you right to the safe spot

Beware of nearby muggles, best weekends, evenings and early mornings or at night.

Best to stay clear of the ravine when raining!

Please take the time to replace the cache as found to prevent it from being muggled.
