4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

The archiving of a geocache is intended to be a permanent status. That is why only community volunteer reviewers and Geocaching HQ staff have the capability to unarchive it. This is done only in rare circumstances and only if it meets the current Geocache Listing Guidelines.

If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance it will not be unarchived.

Geocache Description:

This is an easy cache in a neat memorial park.

“Only Nineteen” is a song written by John Lewis Schumann, lead singer of the group Redgum. It explores the psychological and medical side effects experienced by the Australian forces serving in the Vietnam War. Schumann wrote the song based on the experiences of Vietnam veterans. Royalties for this song go to the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia. (Reference Wikipedia)
Some of the lyrics are: (Reference www.lyricsondemand.com)

“A four week operation when each step could mean your last one on two legs
It was a war within yourself.
But you wouldn't let your mates down til they had you dusted off
So you closed your eyes and thought about something else.

And can you tell me, doctor, why I stil can't get to sleep?
And night-time's just a jungle dark and a barking M16?
And what's this rash that comes and goes, can you tell me what it means?
God help me, I was only ninteen.”

I heard this song performed live outdoors recently by the author. The crowd was moved by the disillusionment, psychological scarring and very real neglect that the Vietnam veterans endured after they returned. Lest we forget.
Take your time here to read about the many wars, emergencies and incidents Australian armed forces have been involved in.
The cache contains a notebook BYO pencil.
