This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to recent logs or logged into geocaching.com for some time I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Geocache Description:

A fairly easy one to find. One you can take in with others on a walk around Meanwood Park.

Lieutenant Colonel Edwin Kitson Clark was born in 1886, son of Dr. E.C. Clark a Cambridge Professor. He married Georgina Parker Bidder. They had two sons, only one of which survived. He was a classicaly educated locomotive engineer and director of the Airedale Foundry which was the Kitson family business. He was the owner of the Meanwoodside estate, renting from 1904 - 1917, when he purchased the property. He was a Warden of Leeds Parish Church and an original member of the Thoresby Society being President from 1940 - 1943. He was present at the founding of the Roman Antiquities Committee for Yorkshire (RACY) and served as its Treasurer from 1923 to 1937. His historical interests were to be reflected in the career of his younger son, George Kitson Clark, the 19th- century historian. Edwin Kitson Clark died on 15th April 1943.

Meanwoodside, which was a 17-acre estate in Leeds, is now part of Meanwood Park. Meanwood Park was opened as a public park in 1922 and the grounds of Meanwoodside House, then demolished, were added in 1954.

The cache is a 35mm film canister which contains a log and pencil.
