Geocache Description:

This is not the usual Brandi Sour cache-with-a-view but a quick utility drive-in cache and dash. As there is stringent water rationing in place at present, we thought it appropriate to lay this cache. It has been placed near the Dhekelia to Ormidhia road where there is easy parking.

Dhekelia desalination plant has been in operation since 2001. It includes eight 5,000 cubic metres/day seawater reverse osmosis trains operating with Mediterranean seawater with a TDS content of 41,800 parts per million, with water temperature ranging from 12ºC to 32ºC . The energy recovery system originally installed at the plant is the Francis turbine, which, at the time, was considered one of the most efficient and economical devices on the market. Since then, however, market forces to reduce operational costs, by cutting down energy consumption, led to the advent of new energy recovery systems.

The cache is a small plastic container.
