Geocache Description:

Ok here is our first stash /cache and it is in Epping Forest, which was ones called the forest of Essex and covered most of the County.
The 6,000 Acres which remain is spread over a 10 mile in a crescent shaped area from Forest Gate in the south up to the South of Epping in the North.
This grand Forest was saved for our enjoyment by one-man’s action, Tom Willingale a commoner of Loughton, which resulted in the Epping Forest Act of 1878 being enacted and the forest dedication to the use and enjoyment of the people by Queen Victoria in 1882.
If you wish to find out more about the Forest why not take a visit to the information Centre at High Beach, it’s open from the 1st of April until 31st of October.
Opening times are.
Weekday and Saturday 10:00am till 5:00pm and on Sunday 11.:00am till 5:00pm.
Or phone on 020 85080028.
And for the people that do not have a G.P.S. yet, here is the grid ref TQ 4015 9545 and the map you are looking for is OS Explorer 174…
Yes we still like to use map and compass when we go out!

Happy Hunting.
