Geocache Description:

1/2hrs stroll from a lovely sheltered bay. Stretch your legs and learn a little about this wonderful island

This island is mostly ignored by boaties rushing off to the outer islands of the Hauraki Gulf. It is well worth taking the time to stop and have a look round. The view from the trig point at the volcanoes edge is as good as it gets. The bay on the northern side alongside the reef has reasonable depth close in and is well sheltered from the prevailing winds although swell and wake can cause anchored boats to rock and roll

We suggest you follow the coast line rather than walking in a straight line, the grass can be thigh deep in places!
The high water mark collects a lot of flotsam and jetsam so you never know what you might find. We normally take a rubbish bag and collect some of the washed up rubbish
