Geocache Description:

By now you've spent a great deal of time getting around this small town of Menasha and now hopefully know more about its history than you ever did before. Consider this your final exam, you are about to graduate from Menasha 101.

A lot has changed since this town was incorporated in 1874 and this cache will give you one last opportunity to get to know the town just a little bit more before you yourself head for the border.

AB% of the population is divorced, a relatively low number compared to the nationwide average
In 2004, the local government employed C part-time personal in their judicial and legal departments
While Menasha has its share of crime, the numbers seem relatively low. For example, there were only D reported arsons in 2005.
The town had a couple close calls with tornados, one of which was a category E that injured 12 people.
Property taxes are just a bit high coming in at .F% more than the state median
Fuel Oil and Kerosene make up G% of house heating fuels
American Indians make up only .H% of the races in Menasha
In 2006, the town employed II full-time law enforcement personel
The 3rd most common industry for females employs J% of them

MENASHA: Named after the Indian word Menashay meaning “settlement on the island,” along with its sister city Neenah meaning “clear water” they are collectively also taken to mean "Laughing Waters" for the sounds that emanated from the twin falls on either side of the island.

This series will not only introduce you to the city of Menasha, but also give you some significant historical knowledge about this town which many drive through just to get from the north side of the Valley to the south. So, the next time you pass through town, you might want to take a little time to look around and appreciate its many unique offerings and establishments.

A huge thanks to Alderman Taylor for providing even deeper historical insight and information than I was able to obtain. It is our hope that after doing the series you will be inclined to stop for a bit the next time you drive through town and appreciate what a unique little community it has been and continues to be by re-inventing itself.
