Small cache located by an interesting phenomenon of
nature
The gall that you will see is a pronounced growth of woody tissue
that appears on tree trunks or branches in response to an
organism-commonly, bacteria, fungi, or insects. On large tree
trunks, galls may reach a diameter two to three times that of the
tree at point of occurrence and at times encircle the stem. A gall
is a product of excessive division and enlargement of cells from
abnormal growth stimulated by bacteria or fungi.
This cache is located in Black Hoof Park that opened July 7th, 2008. It is a beautiful park that has been made possible by the Lenexa's Rain to Recreation program. The trail that this cache is located on is approximately 2 miles as it loops around the lake so you could bike it. The surface is part paved and a soft surface. Many of the caches can be done by walking with a GPSr around the lake. If you complete the loop, you can garner in all of them, if you follow the trails for some of the more distant ones. Have fun, be safe and mind the attributes for nature's surprises. Pay attention to the ratings for Difficulty and Terrain. Rest rooms, picnic tables and drinking water are available near to the parking coordinates.
