Geocache Description:

Cachens bytteting skal hovedsagelig relateres til emnet ”træer og roser” The swap gifts must mainly be related to the theme “trees and roses”.

Dan. The cache, a small plasticbox, is hidden in Gerlevparken, which is run by ”Fonden for Træer og Miljø” (”The Fund of Trees and Environment”). Rosenparken is run with contribution from Frederikssund Kommune. Gerlevparken, which is 10 hectare, contains, beyond the tree collection, the rose collections Poulsen Roser and Valdemar Petersens Historiske Roser. We can thank HM Queen Ingrid for the roses in Gerlevparken. For many years, the Queen was protector of “Fonden for Træer og Miljø” (”The Fund of Trees and Environment”), and she got the fund to take over a collection of old fragrance-roses created by Valdemar Petersen, who is known for his work with old sorts of roses. When he died, HM Queen Ingrid wanted to preserve his work and therefore the rose garden was landscaped in Gerlevparken. In 1986 the garden opened for the first time, and at the opening Niels Poulsen from Poulsen Roser took part. As he saw the garden, he wanted all his roses to Gerlev. And finally in 1989 the fund was able to open the collection of Poulsens Roser, which every year in ceases which the newest sorts of roses from Poulsens Roser. Today the collection of Poulsen Roser contains about 150 different sorts. The park is open every day all year long and the entrance is free.
