Geocache Description:

Cache Type: Micro, please bring a pen or pencil to sign the log -- Enjoy!!!
Location: Harmon Meadows, Secaucus, NJ
Description:
This is a micro cache located at the corner of Harmon Meadow Boulevard and Park Place. If it has rained the ground may be muddy.
Besides your GPS you will also need a Magnetic Anomaly Detector (MAD) which is an instrument used to detect minute variations in the Earth's magnetic field. If you cannot afford or find a MAD locally, your GeoSenses will do just as well! Once the anomaly is discovered you will have also discovered the cache.

WARNING! Magnetic Anomalies are quite commonly known to cause significant GPS bounce interfering with all GPS Magnetic Bearings!
Whether you are here for work in the Corporate Park, need a break at the Exposition Center or on vacation within the various local hotels this cache will provide an interesting diversion. Be sure to also stop by Bottoms Down! ( GC1B0VK) for a nearby nano cache located in Harmon Meadows Courtyard.
Are You Up For A Challenge?
Then here's how to get your Cache listed in this series:
You have probably seen more types of magnetic caches than me with only 250 finds at the moment. I've seen magnetic caches attached to guard rails, park benchs, mail type boxes, newspaper boxes, fence posts, bridges etc., being either nano or key containers. The commonality is that all of them are attached, of course, to metal objects making the find relatively easy and the difficulty of the find reduced with the exception of a creative hider. This series is designed to increase the challenge to the cache hider by requiring them to:
  • Attach the magnetic cache to some non-magnetic object, yet held in place through magnetism.
  • When a geocacher arrives to find your cache, upon initial examination, the geocacher should not be able to discern how the magnetic cache is held in place, otherwise it's Not a Magnetic Anomaly.
  • Upon retrieving the magnetic cache, the geocacher may or may not be able to determine how it was magnetically held in place; leaving room for plenty of creativity.
  • When placing your cache please do not damage, deface, or vandalize anything the cache is attached too in order to meet these requirements.
  • Take pictures of the cache hide.
  • Name the cache: "Magnetic Anomaly: (town name, state)
If you have seen another cache with the same name in your town append the next Roman Numeral available to it. (ex. Magnetic Anomaly: MyTown, NJ II)
  • Place the following text in your cache description:
<div style="border:solid 1px blue; padding:8px 8px 8px 8px;">Besides your GPS you will also need a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_anomaly_detector">Magnetic Anomaly Detector (MAD)</a> which is an instrument used to detect minute variations in the Earth's magnetic field. If you cannot afford or find a MAD locally, your GeoSenses will do just as well! Please visit the cache that started it all. It's called <a style="color:Black; text-decoration:underline;" href="http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC1EA8B">"Magnetic Anomaly: Secaucus, NJ"</a> (<a style="color:#1c7d87; text-decoration:underline;" href="http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC1EA8B">GC1EA8B</a>). Visit it to see the latest Magnetic Anomaly count and find out how you can add your own "Magnetic Anomaly" cache to the series.</div></div>
  • If you want a Hint it should say: Magnetic of course!
  • When your cache gets approved, e-mail me with the cache name, picture of the hide along with a short description of how you magnetically hid the cache and I will add it to the list of Magnetic Anomaly caches on this page. Also, include in the email the name of the cache that brought you to this page.
  • If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me.
