A cache about 2 bridges.
The original bridge was built in the 1860s' on the Melbourne Bendigo line. As always, at the time, the bridge was constructed at right angles to the rail line to keep construction to a minimum.
The steel plate girder and blue button rivets can be seen from GZ.
But with time and the advance of transport the bridge was regarded as unsafe and there were several accidents on the bridge and it was time to look at its replacement.
After much debate a bridge was designed to replace the old bridge at a cost of 3.5 million dollars!
We hope you enjoy our new cache.
You can drive pretty close to it and do not need to cross any roads or rail lines.
