Her var det tidligere bare en liten bekk som rant gjennom en frodig seterdal.
Stortinget bestemte i 1978 at Orkla-Grana vassdraget skulle bygges ut til kraftproduksjon. Det trengtes da reguleringsmagasiner. Derfor ble hele Innerdalen fylt med vann og 12 setrer ble liggende under vann.
Før dalen ble fylt opp, ble det gjort en del arkeologiske undersøkelser. Her fant de flere boplasser, fangstredskaper og andre ting fra middelalder, jernalder og helt tilbake til steinalder.
Before 1983, it was only a little stream down this saeter valley.
They filled the Innerdalen valley with water because they need a lot of water to produce electric power.
In 1981, they do some archaeological excavations. In the valley, they found habitations back to the Stone Age.
