How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

VERY VERY HIGH Muggle Area in a central part of Miller Park. Ultimate stealth is needed to obtain this small to regular size cache. Use extreme care to place back in exact same spot. Parking is near by in front of large building or along park roads in designated areas.

Placed with permission of the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department.

I’ve seen this “sculpture” many of times, but didn’t know what it really was until I started looking around Miller Park for interesting places to hide a cache. I believe you too will really be surprised to find out what it really is unless you knew already. There is some history associated to it that goes back more that 100 years.

Especially avoid Summer weekends during peak times. Early mornings might be your best bet. There will not be much cover for your activities at all. You may want to use a large camera bag, backpack, or something to hide the container while you pose as doing something beside geocaching. My daughter and I had a bag we were collecting leaves, acorns, and stuff, which was doubling as a means to transport the cache to its new home.

Original Contents Included: CDs, Toys, and one TB. If you have kids, take them one of the large playgrounds I’ve seen that is adjacent to a water spray play area. The playground has what looks to be a 2 story tube slide with lower slide coming off the tower. Both of my kids of 5 & 7 tried it and said it was the best playground equipment they've every been on.

7/29/2009....PLEASE HELP: There have been some issues in the past with very high wind blowing the cache container out in the open and also with moister getting inside. To solve this I have now use a "natural" means to hold it in place and upright. Please note how it is held in placed. Thanks much for this.

9/5/2013: Container was MIA, so replace small with a regular sized cache. There is a hook to help keep in place at a low profile. PLEASE NOTE the clue for placing back at the exact location as it is easy to be off 1 or more.

9/8/2016: Container was MIA, so I replaced with a smaller size cache container loaded. No need to use the hook or loop this time.

5/22/2019: Container was MIA I believe due to trimming the bushes. I replace with a regular sized container that blends in PERFECTLY. Because of this I increase the difficulty a point. Please note the exact location and be SUPPER Stealthy in this high muggle area.

12/28/2020: Muggled again. So I create a new geocache container. PLEASE place waist high and in about one foot.  A lot of work goes into creating this style of geocache, so we needd fellow geocachers assistance.
