Bear Island Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache takes you to Bear Island in beautiful Lake Metigoshe, the heart of North Dakota’s four season’s playground.
The island itself is vacant, (except for its resident deer population) but beautiful cabins line the lakeshore a short distance away. In summer, this is an excellent area for water skiing, boating, and all types of water sports. For the fisherman, bluegill can be found around the island. In the winter when the water is hard, cross country is the skiing method of choice. Snowmobiling is also a popular activity. Fishermen have also been known to catch a limit through the ice.
The cache is a standard ammo can and should be easy to find once you get to the island, but in the summer, you will need some type of water transport to get there. In the winter you should be able to drive to it. Be most careful in the early spring and late fall when the ice is thin.
