Geocache Description:

Fourth in a Series of Eight.

As part of a Series, each cache has a number in it, please record the number and corresponding cache and include that in an email to the owner. FTF prize goes to the first one to correctly identify the magic number associated with each cache plus their sum for the series.

This series reflects places that we enjoy on Okinawa and shockingly enough did not have a current cache. Plus, much like the Red Heeler the series is named after, it is somewhat eclectic and definitely fun! You will find beaches, Gusukus, and serene nature places.

Will post hints after FTF as these are not really challenging for some of the legendary cachers on Okinawa.

NOTICE: Bring your own writing instrument!

This cache offers several points of interest: beach, serene nature, camping, Memorial, Monument (not redundant, there are both types here), Cave, Spring, trails, and history. It appears that this area (going by the now nearly derelict shops) was once quite popular. There are several trails through here and some shrines along with war memorials and tombs. There is NO need to get any where near either a shrine or a tomb, so please cache responsibly. Camping is apparently allowed as every time we have visited this area there are several beach combers doing just that.

Difficult/terrain increased due to ankle-twisting rocks and gloves would not be a bad idea for this one.

There is plenty to do in this area and one would not waste an afternoon just enjoying this area. A large memorial and a cave are down a separate trail as well. There was a lookout point as well, but the stairs were roped-off twice already. Additionally, very close proximity to Peace Prayer Park and Geomaster. Also, there is another Gusuku within walking distance from here behind an apparently derelict resort with a Spanish motif. You are on the correct trail if you walk past a well at the bottom of a very large rock (perhaps another cave-spring?).

If anyone knows more of the history of this area, please post illuminating information.
