Pura Luhur Puncak Gunung Nampu
Temple at the top of Mountain Nampu

.. On May 2008 one local holy man had a dream about the lost temple in the jungle in mountains. So he took another five local mens and seven days they were cuting the way until the peak of the Gunung (Mountain) Nampu, where they found the very, very, very old small holy temple.
The temple was established at first times of hindu on Bali, so about at 10th century! But when the holy man came, there was already only few old woods and bamboo bucket. When the owner of the Gede Restaurant in Lipah heart about that, he collected money and builded the new temple there. So at this time you will find the new wooden temple at the top, but the very old bamboo bucket is still there (at the top of the highest altar, but hidden in the white plastic box).

The name „Nampu“ comes from the Indonesian and Balinese word „lampu“, what means the „light“, because sometime at night if you will be lucky you could see some natural lights shining from the ground! This is very interesting and amazing and all local peoples who already were there and saw it, said that it's „god's light“. The best time to see the lights is probably after sunset, because when I was there at 5 a.m. I didn's saw anything..
The best way to the top, which is around 830 meters above the sea level, is from the river in the village Banyuning (see additional waypoints). All local peoples going there at evening (around 4 p.m.) oversleep at top and again by day light morning they go down back. Until the top you will get in 2 - 3 hours and, will walk 2,3 kilometers and ascend 725 meters. Back to down you will get in 1 - 2 hours. Or you can also start around 3 a.m. and walk at night to prevent climbing in direct sun shine..
