This site is accessible from three locations (Lake Awosting parking area (N41°44.082' W 074° 14.656'; UTM: 18T E 562848 N 4620596), Coxing Kill/Lost City parking area (N41°44.682' W 074° 11.824'; UTM: 18T E 566763 N 4621742), Peter's Kill parking area (N41°44.312' W 074° 13.091'; UTM: 18T E 565012 N 4621042)- this one is closest).
On 10-19-08, the cache contained: log book, pencil, sharpener, magic wand, cephalopod fossil, blue dinosaur, backpacking bear, green fish necklace, green playdough, plastic snake, American flag, and stuffed teddy bear.
This cache is located within a sheltered tree home of woodland gnomes and is believed to be occupied by cousins of those in the Gnome's Home farther upstream in the Peter's Kill watershed. This site along the Peter's Kill was selected for its pristine, wild, beauty. It is located near an unmarked foot trail along the stream's right bank, downstream of where a wooden bridge along the High Peter's Kill trial crosses the Peter's Kill (N41°44.772' W 074° 13.167'). The geocache may be reached from the Peter's Kill parking area in 20 to 25 minutes. The photo gallery contains a color GIS map of all the geocache locations in the Peter's Kill watershed. This description will be upgraded to include figures and a description of the hydrology. This cache was approved by the Park Service on 7-20-08.
Enjoy the natural beauty along the nearby, bedrock-floored, Peter's Kill. After finding the geocache, be sure to follow the foot trail just a little further downstream to see a deep pothole in the stream channel (N41°45.002' W 074° 13.033'; UTM: 18T E 565081 N 4622320). This reach of the Peter's Kill is the real treasure.
