welshmike: I decided to archive this cache. Although a nice area to walk around especially with a dog, it wasn't a very frequantly vistited cache so to free up the area to allow someone else to set up another cache.

Geocache Description:


Gwrhay-Fawr

This is a multi cache which involves a circular walk of about 1 ½ miles. Each stage of the multi cache will give you the coordinates to the next stage. There are 2 small film canisters, stages 1 and 2 and then the final cache which is a medium sized box containing the usual swaps and log book, plus a disposable camera.

The walk will take you around a large open field which is reclaimed land from the old Oakdale colliery works. Each stage will give you a nice view of the area, the view point for stage1 is at N51°41.646' W003°10.230' which is just around the corner but well worth a look.
NB. At stage1 view point there is a steep slope, if you’re unsure of going down it just double back onto the field to get access to stage2.

At no time during the cache will you have to climb over any fences or cross over the concrete drainage ditches (unless on a proper bridge or path), if you are, you’ve gone the wrong way.

Can you please ensure that the coordinate information at stages 1 and 2 are placed back into the micro caches ready for the next seeker.

At the final cache if you continue South East along the path it will bring you back to the recommended parking spot at N 51°41.335' W 003°10.058'

Most of the route is on level ground but it can get muddy after rain. Also some of the paths can get a little over grown in summer months but a stick will usually clear your way. The cache is children and dog friendly but not suitable for pushchairs as some of the paths get quite narrow.

This is our first cache we’ve placed so any feed back would be most welcomed. We took the coordinates on two separate clear days and did a dummy run so hopefully we’ve got it right. The hint will only help with the first two stages, the final cache you’re on your own.

Cache Camera
The cache contains a disposable camera. If you’d like to take a picture of yourself then place the camera back in the cache and once the camera is full I’ll get it developed and post the pictures in the cache gallery.
