Park at N 43 19.298/W 70 35.428
Wells Maine was incorporated in 1653. This cache is located in a park created 350 years later to recognize the town founders.
On site are several plaques, benches, and an antique Cape, circa 1710, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as 'Wells Homestead'.
The house is one of 15 similarly styled homes in Wells also listed on the Register.
The house is not open to the public, but restoration efforts are currently underway.
Still, you can stretch your legs, enjoy the park, and imagine a time when the main road was the beach and the nearby road was a footpath.
The original micro was placed by local junior high students as part of their Maine Studies unit. The current cache was replaced on 8/21/2009. Please BYOP and replace carefully.
PS- Watch for the Farmers Market on Wednesdays at the parking location
