12/29/08 UPDATE - I replaced this cache today, as I fear the recent heavy rain storm dislodged the cache and carried it down the stream. Given that the cache was buoyant (for awhile, at least), there is no telling how far the cache might have traveled. The new cache is now a bit away from the bridge, as I sought out higher ground. No bushwacking is required to find this cache, so seek out a trail. Container is a small green lock & lock. Ant activity is heavy everywhere, hopefully they wont nest by this cache.
This is the 2nd cache in a 3 cache series I've placed in an area I've always wanted to explore in a newly annexed area of Black Mountain Open Space Preserve. Even though you can't even see Black Mountain for most of the hike, this area is part of the BM preserve and follows Lusardi Creek to the West. The trail is under utilized, and a peaceful 3 mile R/T walk along the babbling creek if you find all three caches. Best access is to start at the recommended parking area, thoughtfully provided by the Del Sur developers.
Continue along the access road, and down the steep road sections down to the creek. Use care walking down the concrete road, as the gravel makes it slippery. Head West along the Lusardi Creek Trail to a small footbridge to find this cache. Check out the fish swimming below.
Cache should be an easy find, especially with the hint. Cache is a new container type I'm trying out, about the size of a peanut butter jar. Be careful when extracting the cache and wary of snakes at all times. Here is a trail map of Black Mountain.
