A few years ago while hiking around the area, I ran across an old iron pipe and, following it, ran across an old pond. I suspect it was a water source for the old Cranston homestead (see GCN2YQ), but because the pipe ended after several hundred feet this is not clear. I wanted to place the cache at the dam, but brush has completely covered it making it a nasty hike through briars and poison oak. If you look closely you can find an old road that went downhill from the dam to Pleasant Valley Road just above the Smith House (See GCTPXF).
