Geocache Description:

A green tape covered plastic container located just off a public footpath in the Leicestershire village of Foxton

There are several caches along the Grand Union Canal which runs through the village but none as yet actually in Foxton itself(until now). Park at the Robert Monk Hall and have a stroll around the village. See the memorial plaque to a wartime plane crash, the medieval mud wall at the old court house and the old village school (until recently a field study centre). The village church contains the remains of a saxon cross. As you travel up swingbridge street past the Chestnuts there is a lane to your right, Narrow or "Ghost" lane and leading left is Softwell lane. At the end of this lane just before the gate and to the left is the site of the "soft well" one of several wells that used to supply water to the village until the 1940's when mains water supply was connected. Other wells/ pumps being at the old forge, Orchard House and near the Green/ Swedish Close.
