Geocache Description:

Near Yerkes Observatory, where I originally wanted to place the cache. When I requested permission from them, they declined. This is a very cool place to visit, however it has been closed since placing this cache.

***PLEASE do NOT disassemble the site! If you move ANYTHING in search of the cache, put it back exactly as found. DO NOT MOVE ANYTHING BIGGER THAN THE PALM OF YOUR HAND! You do NOT have to move anything to grab the cache, it is in within VIEW and Easy reach. Thanks. It's easier to find than it first appears. I have increased the original difficulty rating based on the camo job and the muggle factor per another geocachers suggestion. You are looking for a beautiful brass perfume spray bottle case, that has been given an anti-face lift to become a geocache. ;)In other words, it looks NOTHING like it did originally. Please bring a pen/pencil to sign the log, and replace carefully in the EXACT spot. Thanks! Yerkes Observatory is home to the largest refracting telescope in the world. Yerkes Observatory is a facility of the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics of the University of Chicago. It was established in 1897 on Geneva Lake in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. Until the mid-1960's, Yerkes Observatory housed all of the Department's activities. Today the 77-acre, park-like site in southeast Wisconsin provides laboratory space and access to telescopes for research and instruction. A substantial fraction of the University's library holdings in astronomy are housed at Yerkes. This site will take you to an interesting history of the Observatory, too long to print here. http://astro.uchicago.edu/yerkes/history.html CONGRATULATIONS to ZoOg and Kurdt318 for joint FTF!
