Another cache in my Desert Island Discs series, leading to a final
cache - the greatest album of all time! (In my opinion)
Here’s a band you’ve probably never heard of.
The Candyskins enjoyed a little popularity during the early
nineties then kind of went obscure again, although they put
out a few albums. One song of theirs was in “Waterboy” with
Adam Sandler and I heard the same song on a commercial in
2006. I think they’re great. Their first and second albums are
both very good albums – filled with good songs that mesh well.
This is their second album and I think it is a little more
mature musically. Their later stuff kind of degraded into
punkish murk. They may be together still but they have kind of
slipped below the radar.
The album name seemed appropriate for this cache. I originally
wanted to place it on Big Mountain, another mile or more up the
trail. But that was too far for the kids. So we were going to go to
the top of that hill just above the cache area. Then that turned
out to be too far. It's just a tough job for each of us to carry a
kid (and of course I had this loaded ammo can too) along with our
6-year old hiking. So it was 'Fun?' We hiked here because we wanted
to visit the Mormon Pioneer trail today, Pioneer Day. We have quite
a few ancestors who came through this pass. Enjoy your hike.
