Geocache Description:

Kätkö esittelee yhden Virtain sivukylien kirkoista.

Kirkko on rakennettu Josef Stenbäckin piirustusten mukaan ja
se valmistui vuonna 1928. Killinkosken kirkko on yksi Stenbäckin harvoista suunnittelemista
puukirkoista. Stenbäckin mukaan kivi, erityisesti graniitti, oli ainoa
oikea kirkon rakentamiseen käytettävä materiaali. Hän kuitenkin suostui suunnittelemaan puukirkon, koska oli myös itse suunnittelemansa Killinkosken nauhatehtaan
perustajan lanko. Killinkosken kirkko jäi suunnittelijansa viimeiseksi työksi.

The church was completed 1928. Architect was Josef Stenbäck, who was rather planning stone churchs, but agreed to plan this wooden one because he was the brother in law of the director of Killinkoski band factory. Stenbäck has also planned the factory. This church was his last project.
