Ocean View Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
The cache is a peanut butter container covered with duct tape. This is a VERY scenic area. Depending on the time of year, you can expect to see icebergs, whales or dolphins, gulls, eider ducks, small fish in tidal pools, etc. The walk should take about 15 minutes one way...maybe a little longer on the way back. There are a number of places to park. I'd park here: N 51 34.278 W 056 43.840.
Cross the road (traffic is very light...but still be careful) and walk down to the beach or near it. (On the way, you should pass a survey marker (benchmark) at: N51 34.265 W 056 43.804) Then, walk along the shore until you come to the cache. Much of the walk will be over bedrock but some areas may be a little wet so wear appropriate footwear. When you are in the vicinity of the cache, you will have to hop over a tiny brook (or walk through it) about 2 feet across. Do this one on a sunny day in the early morning when there is a little onshore breeze and you should not be bothered too much with black flies or mosquitoes. Enjoy the view and the secluded beaches in the area.
