From the first cache head west over the rough field on the permissive path. This section is the boggiest of the entire walk! Watch where you're going and the best bet is to stick to the higher, rocky ground north of the path. The path has some serious squelches. The rest of the walk is much better, so persevere!
Nearing the cache, go south of the path to a small crag with an impressive 'stone table' at its foot. Take care of any lions you have with you! The cache is tucked under but easily reached from the correct side. Digitalis purpurea may show the way. The hint may also help.
Good views along the valley and across to the opposite hillside, where our wander takes us next. Close by is the 'new' pack horse bridge over Sleddale Beck. This replaced an older one which was flooded by the reservoir. It's quite an elegant bridge and an impressive gorge lies beneath, especially after rain.
