Geocache Description:

"P" is for Poarch Creek Indians

The Poarch Band of the Creek Indians will soon be building a Casino on the Indian Reservation that is located near here. The Creek Indians once used this land as their Creek Nation Capital until the round up and moving of all Indians known as the Trail of Tears. Many important meetings were held here as part of the daily business of the Creek Tribe. Recently a new discovery was made that the Creek Village was expansive and encompassed the area across from the entrance to the casino and River Oaks. During exploration digging for a new road project, human remains and remains from the Indians were un-earthed. With that discovery, the digging is now expected to continue for a few more years and all of the artifacts will be catalogued and put on file with the Alabama Department of Natural History and Archives.

Congrats to Pilfering on the FTF!!
