Geocache Description:

"V" is for VFW - We suggest working this cache in daylight hours only.

Most cities have a VFW, thats because most cities have Veterns. These are a wonderful group of people who have given a lot in the name of protecting freedom here at home and abroad. We have the greatest military on the face of the earth to go along with the greatest country on the face of the earth.

The Wetumpka VFW has been established for decades and has been a staple in helping with community projects. Each year there are many observances put together in Wetumpka for the Veterans of Elmore County. There is a wreath drop from the Bibb Graves Bridge, there is a Candle Light Vigial at the Court House on New Years Eve as well as other events on Veterans Day itself.

Monuments dedicated to Veterans of all wars can be found at the County Courthouse loacted downtown. Its well worth the trip to see them if you have time.
