This cache is located on the National Cycle Route 43 very near the village of Pontardawe. A cache and dash for cyclists, dog walkers and (almost) for those in a car.
This is our second cache, and after the first which is quite tricky, we thought we would go a bit easier with this one.
We wanted to create a cache and dash, but not make it too easy. So, the NCR 43 which runs through our village sprang to mind.
Pontardawe was home to Steel and Tinplate industry in the late 19th centuary and early 20th centuary. Parc Ynysderw was home to the Pontardawe tinplate works.
Today Parc Ynysderw hosts the Pontardawe Leisure Centre and playing fields... it is one of the King George Fields established as a memorial to King George V.
Parc Ynysderw not only hosts sporting events such as the Cwmtawe 7's Rugby Tournament, but also for one weekend of the year in August hosts and welcomes musicians from all over the world to play in the world famous Pontardawe International Music Festival.
The cache location is just down stream from a turbulent stretch of water but during the late summer months is cloaked from the lovely views of the river by some of the notorious Japanese Knotweed that blights the area...
Still, I hope that this cache will bring a small smile to your face on your journey up or down the valley along Route 43!

PPS - Cache is now upgraded to a SMALL from a MICRO on the 15th of March 2009. It is currently jam packed with trades.
