Perkins Center for the Arts,
in Moorestown NJ, collaborated with
Katherine Hackl
to receive a grant from the mid-Atlantic
Arts Council "Artists in Communities" program. Together, they
worked with Community Link of Moorestown to develop a project
incorporating original tile artwork made by members of the
local community. Katherine worked with over 60 community
members of all ages to create unique tiles depicting the
chosen theme of indigenous plants and animals of the
Moorestown region. This tile work was installed on a series
of custom made concrete benches and planters located in the
new pocket park in downtown Moorestown.
Perkins Center for the Arts is
a unique cultural organization dedicated to excellence in the arts
and to providing a wide range of creative opportunities for people
of all ages and every level of artistic development. The Center's
programs include visual and performing arts classes and lessons,
exhibitions, music and dance performances, workshops, visiting
artists' residencies, and an outreach program for children,
underserved communities, and individuals with special needs.
Recognized by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts as a Major
Arts Presenting Organization, Perkins Center offers arts programs
that promote participation, understanding and communication amongst
people. As a non-profit organization, Perkins Center receives
financial support, donations and services from membership, friends,
businesses, corporations and foundations.

From their early roots in
Moorestown, Burlington County, Perkins Center (incorporated in
1977) has become a regional arts center serving residents in
southern New Jersey and beyond. Their Moorestown home is located in
a Tudor-style manor house and carriage building surrounded by a
5-acre arboretum and situated between two county roads, the
"center" of a residential neighborhood. Listed on the National
Register of Historic Places, both the manor house and carriage
building were designed and built in 1910 by noted Philadelphia
architect, Herbert C. Wise as a wedding gift for Alice and Dudley
Perkins. The buildings were bequeathed to Moorestown Township in
1965; Perkins Center has a multi-year lease.

These coordinates will lead
you to Remembrance Park. To find the cache you will need to
spend some time observing the artwork that makes up this
place. Each bench or planter was contributed in memory of an
individual special to someone in the community. Find the
family, tally the subject and collect the coordinates. Please
note, all subject items are located on the facing portion of the
bench/planter not on the sides.
