Listening to Mother Hen encouraging new dad Bogart this weekend, it occured to me that Mothers are a veritable Encyclopedia of knowledge! How do they know this stuff, anyway? Genetics? Experience? Osmosis?
It's interesting to hear how two Parents Institute many of their own childhood traditions, rules and beliefs and blend them into something new. Our friends discussed "Weighing the Scale of adjusting to parenthood with several anecdotes and said that many times they felt they were "Left Side-stepping parties with friends who did not have children" and "Looking Up for guardian angels to help them." Books on parenthood, dvds, websites and friendly advice had helped a great deal, but they still weren't sure if they were Heading in the Proper Direction.
Mother Hen gave them smiles, hugs and provided a Symbol or two that they could look up to along the way. One of these days, she should write a Book - I bet it would be a best seller.
