This cache is located in Hamilton Branch State Recreation Area.
Hamilton Branch State Recreation Area covers an entire 731-acre peninsula on Thurmond Lake. When we visited to place the cache, it was a hot summer day and we saw lots of visitors swimming, boating, camping and picnicking. In a quiet spot, we also saw five deer grazing in the woods. A small fee is required for entry. We noticed one area of the park had a stand of dwarf palmettos and it reminded us of north Florida. The cache is a small plastic tube hidden among these palmettos. The parking coordinates take you to a small lot off Red Bird Road, just a short walk from the cache location. Permission for this cache was received from the South Carolina State Park Service.
