Bibbo on the Beach Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

roymerc: I don't know if it's Climate Change or simply the Grand Way of Things, but it seems that the costal dynamic has changed over the past few years, with strong storm surges more likely to occur a times of high tide. There has been a lot of erosion of the sand dunes at this spot, and more to come I fear. Neither I nor anyone else can use this location, and the Bibbulmun Track will most likely be shifted up to William Bay beach. Therefor the best is to archive the cache completely. Vale Bibbo!

Geocache Description:

WARNING: Please do not use this cache. The first waypoint is dangerously eroded!

An easy 2.8 Km round trip walk along the delightful granite-bound beach from William Bay, and back through the bush, with a cunning concealed and camouflaged clue in between.

This is a companion cache to "the Petrified Pachyderms." They both start at the same spot but proceed off in opposite directions. This one is a simpler hide (with fairly heavy-handed clues), but involves a bit more walking. Do both and exercise your body and mind! Start from the car park at William Bay. (35°01.386S 117°14.146E) Take the path down to the sea, and walk West along the beach. At 35° 01.212S 117° 13.461E look for the Sign of the Wooden Limpet*. if you can pull it off, you'll be told where to go!

This cache started off as a Hiker-Friendly, with an ammo box full of useful aids to walking: tinned food, bandaids; and was reasonably helpful to the foot-sore. But someone found it so attractive that he --or she-- stole the whole lot. So I have regretfully reduced it down to a simple small camouflaged cache. No more goodies. It's a bit of rubbish really, no use to anyone.

This cache is called 'Bibbo on the Beach' because this is where the famous Bibbulmun Track come down to the sea. In fact if you want to explore, continue on the track back to William Bay Road, and hence back to the car park. It is actually a shorter walk.

Two warnings. One: this is a clean dog-free beach in a dog-free National Park. So leave the pooch at home. There are fox baits in the park. There is no cure or antidote for 1080 poison. Leaving the dog in the car is against Park rules. (And a bad idea anyway.) The second thing is beware King Waves! Very infrequently and unpredictably a huge wave will rise out of nowhere and sweep with dangerous force over the slippery lower rocks. Unless you are *a marine mollusc with a flat cone shaped shell and the ability to stick to rocks, take care. Never turn your back on the Sea! Apart from bushfires and the occasional snake, that's it for hazards! Have fun!
cheers, 'roymerc'
