Geocache Description:

Thursday, 18th September 2008
From 7.00pm

!!!! ALL CACHERS WELCOME !!!!

Intended as a casual get together this event offers something a little different from the normal pub meet – Swadlincote Ski Centre features a dry ski slope and a toboggan run. The bar and restaurant located in the Alpine Lodge overlooks the centre from the first floor which also has a balcony - this could prove an entertaining place to watch the odd cacher fly by on a toboggan.

Access to the centre is free, obviously payment will be required for drinks, food and the toboggan run which is £5.50 for 4 rides, per person (all of which is optional). More information about the toboggan run can be found here.

I may add a few more details with regard to other activities such as competitions or maybe a little hunt, add this event to your watch list for updates.

Location

The event will be held at Swadlincote's Ski Centre (DE11 8LP) which is situated on the A514 (Derby Road) and is just a few minutes walk from Swadlincote town centre.

Parking at the centre is free plus alternative car parks are available in Swadlincote itself (which are also free).

On arrival enter through main entrance, turn right and go straight up the stairs then go through the door on the left.

I believe the staff will be cordoning off an area for us so I'm sure you will have no problems finding us.

Food

The centre provides a good range of bar snacks snacks and meals at an average cost of £6 - the kitchen will normally close at 9pm with the bar will closing at 11pm . To view the current menu visit the centres website.

Local Caching

If your up for a bit of caching prior to the event (or after?) there are a couple trails just a few miles away which were placed by some local cacher (the name escapes me). Also just across the road is the “Woodland Heights” cache (again the placers name escapes me).

Feel free to send any questions
