In diesem Mystery Cache möchte ich einige Bands meiner Jugend eine Bühne bereiten. Beantwortet die 4 Rätsel richtig und die Koordinaten werden auch zum Cache führen:

Rätsel 1: Die unten abgebildete englische Band beeinflusste meinen Musikgeschmack Anfang der 80er sehr stark und gehört immer noch zu einer meiner Lieblingsbands. Gesucht ist der genaue Geburtstags des Leadsängers, welcher nach der Auflösung der Band zusammen mit einem ehemaligem Mitglied der Dexys Midnight Runners mit einer Soulband und später auch Solo sehr erfolgreich war. Geburtstag im Format TT.MM.JJJJ – Variable A ergibt sich aus TTMM minus JJJJ


Rätsel 2: Anfang der 80er Jahre entdeckte ich den Punk als Musikrichtung und Lebensgefühl. Eine der dabei wegweisenden Bands kam aus den USA. Ebenso wie bei der Band aus Rätsel A, waren die Texte sehr politisch und gesellschaftskritisch. Der Sänger kandidierte übrigens Ende der 70er auch für das Amt des Bürgermeisters von San Francisco – und verlor :-) Gesucht ist das Erscheinungsjahr der ersten LP – die letzten 2 Ziffern des Jahres ergeben Variable B

Rätsel 3: Eine weitere amerikanische Band wurde in den 80er sehr häufig auf Parties gespielt. Mit ihrer Mischung aus Rock’n Roll, Funk und Punkelementen sowie den markanten Stimmen des Leadsängers und der beiden weiblichen Sängerinnen war diese Band unverwechselbar. In 2008 hat die Band übrigens nach 16 Jahren Abstinenz wieder ein Album veröffentlicht und ist zurzeit auf Tour (und ich war auf dem Konzert – klasse!) Die im Bandnamen enthaltene Zahl ergibt Variable C

Rätsel 4: Die zur damaligen Zeit wohl intellektuellste Band kam wiederum aus den USA. Hier wird nur ein Tipp gegeben: Ein damals noch relativ unbekannter Regisseur drehte einen Konzertfilm über diese Band. Der Durchbruch gelang diesem Regisseur sieben Jahre später mit einem Film, bei dem der „Acherontia styx“ eine wichtige Rolle spielt. Gesucht ist der Titel des Debutalbums der Band – dieser ergibt Variable D.

My musical youth

In this Mystery Cache, I want to introduce some of the bands I heard in my youth. Answer the 4 questions and you will be guided to the cache:

Puzzlel 1: The band in the picture below influenced me very much in the beginning of the 80s and is still one of my favourite bands. We search for the birthday of the lead singer, who has had much success later together with a former member of the Dexys Midnight Runners with a soul band as well as in his solo career. Date of birth in format DD.MM.YYYY – Variable A is calculated by DDMM minus YYYY


Puzzle 2: At the beginning of the 80s, I discovered punk as a music and attitude. One of the leading bands came from the US.. Like the band in puzzle 1, the songs of this band were very political and socio-critical. The lead singer has nominated himself end of the 70s at the election for major of San Francisco - and he lost :-) We search for the release year of the first LP of this band - variable B is the last 2 digits of the year

Puzzle 3: Another US band was frequently played at parties. The mix of Rock'n Roll with Funk and Punk elements as well as the distinctive voices of the leadsinger and the 2 female singers made this band unique. In 2008 , after 16 years, this band released a new CD and is also touring through the world (I was on one concert - fantastic!) The number within the band name is variable C

Puzzle 4: The most intelectual band in this times was again from the US. Only one hint will be provided: A relatively unknown director made a concert film of this band. Later he became famous with one film, where „Acherontia styx“ had a prominent role. We are looking for the name of the debut album of this band. This is variable D
