Geocache Description:

The cache is a black tape wrapped specimen container containing a log, pencil and a FTF prize of a pin. The hiding place will be familiar to experienced cachers.

There is parking in front of the church for several cars.

St. Michael’s Church, Donaghmoyne was originally built in 1824, with improvements made in 1907 still preserved in the architecture of the present building. In 1977 it was established that the structure of the Church was in need of extensive repair. The last masses in the Church were held in September 1981.

The poet Cathal Buidhe Mac Giolla Gunna lived in the parish and is buried in the graveyard. While I could find a memorial to this effect I could not find an acutal grave.

According to internet sources the church was converted into a community resource centre in 1999/2000 but has since fallen into a poor state and is no longer in use.
