Geocache Description:

** Listed coordinates are BOGUS **

The 2008 Summer Olympics are about to start in Beijing (August 8 – 24). It has been reported that, in preparation, many thousands of Chinese have learned basic English phrases to help their visitors get around more easily and comfortably. That is quite an accomplishment! This cache returns the favor by having English-speaking Geocachers translate basic Chinese phrases while doing what we like to do. It’s important to read the Chinese phrases out loud. Understand that this is all in fun.

Match the English and Chinese phrases and use the number associated with the letter in the formula for cache latitude.

Cache Latitude = N39 13.(ABC + DEF)

A. Sum Ting Wong
B. Kum Hia Nao
C. Dum Dum Wa King
D. Wai Yu So Tan
E. Ai Bang Mai Ni
F. Chin Tu Fat

“Did you go to the beach?” ( 3 )
“I think you need a face lift.” ( 2 )
“That’s not right.” ( 2 )
“I bumped into a coffee table.” ( 1 )
“See me ASAP.” ( 5 )
“There goes a stupid man.” ( 4 )

Now that you’ve got the hang of Chinese (it’s quite easy, isn’t it!), translate six more phrases to find the cache longitude.

Cache Longitude = W076 39.(UVW + XYZ)

U. Wao So Dim
V. Wai Yu Mun Ching
W. No Pah King
X. Lei Ying Lo
Y. Yu Stin Ki Pu
Z. Su Pah

“Staying out of sight.”( 6 )
“Great!” ( 4 )
“Your body odor is offensive.” ( 2 )
“I thought you were on a diet.” ( 1 )
“It’s very dark in here.” ( 3 )
“This is a tow away zone.” ( 5 )
