Alton Amphitheater Scenic Backway. Traditional Cache

This cache is located along a beautiful scenic backway with the above name. From Hwy 89, to the south, you will turn at the Johnson Canyon turnoff. You can come in from Alton and Glendale or Cannonville but the shortest route is from Hwy 89 east of Kanab.
This cache was hidden in order to help you navigate your way to Montezuma's Treasure Cache. We missed this road when we were looking for the turnoff. There is a more prominent road to the south leading to Montezuma's Cache but it is not as direct as this one is. To get to this cache you will barely have to leave the pavement.
In order to proceed to Montezuma's Treasure you will need a 4WD or an ATV. The sand is soft and 12-18 inches deep in some places. This is a fantastic area and the road out here had me going, "look Steve", "wow look at that", "ooh, ooh, over there", "look, a window rock", etc.
