Geocache Description:

Changed 7/5/2010 -- Cache is NOT at the posted coordinates - However, answers to the below questions are now provided.

I've been wanting to place some caches in the Caledon Natural Area for some time now. Walk the scenic trails through old growth forest in this Virginia park. Caledon's principle role is a Bald Eagle preserve. At more than 2500 acres, Caledon protects a large tract of forest, and provides nearly eight miles of year round hiking trails, with additional trails open in the off-season (when disturbing the eagles is less of a problem). You are looking for an ammo can near the Belmont trail.

Placed with permission. Do no try to park on Rte. 218. Parking is at the main lot by the visitor center. Park hours are 8:00 am to sunset, and there is a parking fee of $3.00 during the week and $4.00 weekends and holidays. Get all the park's caches while you are there. Stop and enjoy the visitor center if its open!

The coordinates for the cache can be found by discovering the following information. All answers can be found on signs near the parking area.

Posted perimeter distance of the Laurel Glen trail = A
Posted perimeter distance of the Poplar Grove trail (first digit) = B
Posted perimeter distance of the Cedar Ridge trail = C
Earliest date on the informative sign mentioning houses on the Caledon property = 1DEF
Date John Alexander built his house, later destroyed by fire = 1GHI
Posted length of the Belmont trail (first digit) = J NOTE: Due to the condition of signage, the actual coordinates are now provided: N 38° 19.798 W 077° 09.113 Location of Cache = N 38 19.GF(H+I); W 077 09.(D-E)(J-A)(A+B)
