Ciao collega geocacher,

Dopo oltre un mese dalla mia nota, non ho ricevuto alcuna risposta nè visto alcuna modifica.
Se non lo hai ancora fatto, per favore raccogli ogni eventuale resto della cache al più presto possibile. Se hai intenzione di intervenire sul cache, una volta completata l'operazione per favore lasciatemi un messaggio con il numero waypoint GC relativo alla cache. Sarò più che lieto di verificare nuovamente la cache per verificare la sua conformità con le linee guida.

Grazie per l'attenzione e per ogni ulteriore informazione ti prego di non esitare a contattarmi o attraverso il message center oppure inserendo un log in questo cache.

After more than one month from my last note I didn't receive any answer and no action has been done.
If you haven't done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible. If you are going to fix the problems connected to this cache, once it is ready please drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache. I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

Gallipoli e il suo Castello

Il Castello angioino di Gallipoli è considerato uno degli ormai rarissimi castelli ad essere bagnato direttamente dal mare e la sua costruzione evidenzia l'altissima e ardita tecnologia ingegneristica.
Collocato a difesa della città e all'imboccatura del ponte che unisce l'abitato antico di Gallipoli (una vera e propria isola!) alla terra ferma, risale ai secoli XIII-XIV, ma fino al XVII secolo ha subito modifiche, aggiunte e ristrutturazioni.
Il Rivellino è stato infatti costruito intorno al 1500, dopo la costruzione del Castello.
E’ formato da una torre fortificata più larga e meno alta delle 4 torri che si trovano agli angoli del Castello, ed aveva la funzione di difesa della città e di controllo dei traffici tra il borgo e la terra ferma: nella parte superiore della torre si trovavano catapulte e cannoni!
Il Rivellino, il cui accesso è consentito mediante un ponte levatoio in legno, viene adibito a Cinema/Arena durante il periodo estivo.
Il Ponte venne costruito invece intorno al 1600, a causa dei ripetuti assalti alla città da parte di pirati e briganti del tempo. Anticamente, infatti, Gallipoli era collegata alla terra ferma da un piccolo lembo di terra; a causa dei numerosi attacchi, l’istmo venne distrutto ed al suo posto venne costruito un ponte in muratura, formato da 12 archi che, nella parte finale, montava un ponte levatoio in legno (ora non più presente), il quale permetteva una maggiore difesa della città.
Una curiosità: ogni volta che nasce un bambino presso l'Ospedale di Gallipoli, i lampioni situati sul ponte lampeggiano per festeggiare l'evento!
Buona caccia e massima segretezza nel prendere e rimettere la cache: vi vedono tutti!

Gallipoli and its Castle

The Angevin Castle of Gallipoli is now considered one of very rare castles to be wet directly from the sea and its construction highlights the bold and high-tech engineering.
Located to defend the city and at the entrance of the bridge connecting the old town (a real island!) to the mainland, it goes back to the XIII/XIV century, but up to the seventeenth century has undergone changes, additions and renovations.
The Rivellino was built around 1500, after the construction of the Castle.
It's formed by a fortified tower wider and lower of 4 towers that are located at the corners of the Castle, and had the function of defending the city and control of traffic between the village and the mainland: at the top of the tower were catapults and cannons!
The Rivellino, whose access is allowed through a wooden drawbridge, is used now as a Cinema/Arena during the summer.
The bridge was built instead around 1600, because of repeated assaults by the city of pirates and brigands. In ancient times, in fact, Gallipoli was connected to the mainland by a small strip of land; because of numerous attacks, the isthmus was destroyed and in its place was built a bridge masonry, consisting of 12 arches with, in the end, a wooden drawbridge (now no longer present), which allowed greater defend of the city.
A curiosity: every time a child is born at Gallipoli Hospital, lamps located on the bridge blink to celebrate the event!
Good hunting and absolute stealth in taking and hide again the cache: a lot of people will see you!
