Geocache Description:


This series celebrates Michigan craft brewing. Hides in this series are located near or on the premises of craft beer locations, but none require entering the establishments to make the find.

Craft brews, sometimes called microbrews, are beers made in smaller batches by independent brewers. The state of Michigan updated its brewing license laws in 1993, launching a burgeoning industry of microbreweries, brewpubs, and suppliers of home brewing enthusiasts. As of 2012, there are over 95 microbreweries and brewpubs in the state of Michigan. Most serve some sort of food and non-alcoholic beverages, and many are family-friendly during daytime hours. Dozens of Michigan home brewing clubs meet regularly to share recipes and techniques. Craft beer festivals and competitions are held across the state throughout the year.

grain silo This brewery/restaurant is a respite in the middle of suburban hubbub. They offer a full menu and free Wi-Fi. Head brewer Todd (formerly of Royal Oak Brewery) has been here since October 2007. Todd’s a soccer enthusiast, certified scuba diver, former marine biologist and all around good guy. And he makes good beer! If you decide to stop inside, be sure to say "Hi" to him after logging the cache!

NOTES: No need to climb on anything. Make sure to bring your own pen/pencil, as there is not one in the cache.
