Tech Treasure Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: From the Northern Region Office, New Jersey State Parks Department:

Over a year ago New Jersey enacted a policy that all geocachers must obtain a permit to have their cache on State Park property. We have informed all geocaching host that this is their responsibility and have given them ample time to go about getting their permits. At this time, over a year later, there are still several caches that haven’t complied.

We ask that as the land managers for the attached properties we would like to have these illegal caches removed.

Based on the list provided by the state, I am forced to archive this listing. If you have a permit, get a permit or don't believe your cache is on state park/forest land, please contact me via email. Make sure you include the GC code.

If you don't plan to get a permit, please remove your geocache so it doesn't become geo-trash.

Geocache Description:

Located in Skylands Manor on Duck Pond Loop. Less than 100' from the road and decent places to park while searching.

This is the first geocache I have ever placed. I assume that many Geocachers are also "tech" people and so this cache was created with them in mind. This cache is meant to be a repository for computer and tech related stuff that is hard to find or just sitting at home collecting dust - but you can't throw it away because you know someone can use it.

Obviously it is also limited by size - but this is the first and if it goes over well I may place another - maybe a large one so different kinds of stuff can be traded.

Also, I threw in a bunch of linux CD's and DVD's since I support the open-source software movement and want as many people as possible to experience it.

The original cache contents are:

1. 3 RCA Audio Cables
2. 9 Pin serial cable
3. CD-Rom Audio Cables (for motherboard)
4. Samsung Cat-5 Connector
5. 12V DC Adaptor.
6. Floppy disk ribbon cable.
7. Hard disk ribbon cable.
8. Dell external floppy drive cable.
9. Gentoo Linux 2007 CD
10. Fedora 7 DVD
11. Fedora 6 (5 CD's)
12. Ubuntu 6.06
13. Disposable Camera (Whoever takes the last photo should be sure to log it so I can go get the pics and put them up.)

About location, all I can say is that you need to be lower than the road in order to find it. Also, the color of the container is unusual.

Have fun.
