Another one of the SideTracked series, this one along with Rufford being placed in rural areas of Lancashire
Croston railway station serves the small village of Croston, near Chorley in Lancashire, the station is on the Ormskirk branch line.
This line was cut back with the railway restructuring of the 1960s and 1970s, and only two trains an hour use the line in either direction. "Line" is the suitable word here, as along the route are clear signs the former dual track route from Preston to Ormskirk and Southport has been severely cut back. Croston enjoys bus connections to nearby Leyland, Chorley, Southport, and Preston. It is on the B5247 into Bretherton.
The cache is actually on the station, there is no need to go off the platform or anywhere near to the running line, there are only 2 trains an hour here so finding shouldn't pose a problem.
