Come and drive over what is thought to be the oldest bridge to cross a river in South Africa, and is still in daily use today.
Construction on the bridge began in 1837 and was opened to traffic late 1843 or early 1844. This bridge built over the Kat River was built as part of the road connecting Grahamstown and Fort Beaufort and was named after the British Queen Victoria. The total cost of the bridge was around 2000 pounds
